In our summer series, there was so much good stuff that I could not include everything I would have liked.
One example is the New Testament’s teaching on a specific eternal reward. We read that there are a number of crowns available to believers upon arrival in eternity. These are an example of the tangible rewards available to us for the things we do here on Earth.
We find at least five different kinds of crowns in Scripture:
- The Victor’s Crown will be awarded to those who practice spiritual discipline (1 Cor. 9:25–27)
- The Crown of Rejoicing, given to those who have led others to Christ & discipled them (1 Thess. 2:19)
- The Crown of Righteousness is for those who look longingly for Jesus’ return (2 Tim. 4:8).
- The Crown of Life will be placed upon those who have endured and triumphed over trial and persecution, even to the point of martyrdom (Jms. 1:12; Rev. 2:10)
- The Crown of Glory, which will be awarded to faithful shepherds of God’s people (1 Pet. 5:4)
How exciting!
There is so much the Bible has to say about Money, Possessions, and Eternity. I wonder what else you can find?
