I recently saw that increased usage and dependence on AI is threatening people’s ability and inclination to read. No surprise! The remedy? More reading.
So, I ask you this question: What are you reading?
I just ordered a book that came out this summer on the heels of our “Family DNA” series. It is called “Let the Word Dwell Richly: The Vital Power of the One Another Word” by Tony Payne.
I am sad this book did not come out earlier because I was looking for a book that could serve as a companion to this series at our book stall (near the Welcome Desk). This might have been the one! Alas, it did not release until the series was almost over. Ask me in a couple of weeks, and I will give you a review.
Speaking of reading. Did you know we have curated a selection of books at our book stall on a variety of topics? They are for sale each week before and after service, and before you go and secretly double-check the Amazon price on your phone, we are offering them at a lower price (unless there is a flash sale we aren’t aware of!). We are supplementing the cost because we believe reading good books has great value.
You don’t have to do all the research to determine whether or not these authors and publishers are reliable. We have done that work for you. Stop chatting with Claude, and pick up a book for yourself.
Pick up a book for your kids. Their teachers are going to ask that they read every day anyway, and this can be a way for them to meet an academic requirement and pursue Christ at the same time.
A couple of new books I am especially excited about in our book stall:
- A Hiding Place (Graphic Novel)
- Dust-to-Dust—a book about aging (look for an upcoming Equip Class/Book Club on this book)
- Being Elisabeth Elliot (2nd volume of a 2 volume biography—we have had the first volume “Becoming Elisabeth Elliot” in stock for a while)
What are you reading?
