The Subtle Danger of the Prosperity Gospel

Even churches that are clearly teaching a false Prosperity Gospel want to avoid that label. Consider this “reading” that one prominent “church” uses during their offering:

As we receive today’s offering,
We are believing the Lord for:

Jobs and better jobs
Raises and bonuses
Benefits
Sales and commissions
Favorable settlements
Estates and inheritances

Interests and income
Rebates and returns
Checks in the mail
Gifts and surprises
Finding money
Debts paid off
Expenses decrease
Blessing and increase

Thank You, Lord,
for meeting all of my financial needs
that I may have more than enough
to give into the Kingdom of God
and promote the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.

Hallelujah!

Classic Prosperity Gospel!

On the same church’s YouTube channel, you can listen to their leaders reject that label vehemently.

Beware! Wolves—by their nature—are inclined to deceive.

Jesus said: “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:15)
