Pete Slusher

Senior Pastor

Pete Slusher has been serving as Senior Pastor of Community Bible Church since April 1996.   Pastor Pete received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio and his Masters of Divinity degree from Northwest Baptist Seminary (now Corban University School of Ministry)  in Tacoma, Washington.   Prior to serving at CBC, Pete was an Associate Pastor for 5 years in Santa Clarita, California and Youth Pastor for 9 years in Richland, Washington.   Pastor Pete enjoys golfing, spending time with his own family and his church family.

Pete and his wife Kathy were married in December 1978.  Kathy grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and is also a graduate of Cedarville University.   Kathy is actively involved in a variety of ministries at CBC, including teaching Bible studies and serving on the Women’s Ministries Committee.   Kathy is also a tax accountant for Stewardship Services Foundation(SSF)in Newhall, California.   SSF is a ministry that prepares taxes for pastors and missionaries worldwide.   Kathy enjoys reading, baking and entertaining.

Pete and Kathy have a married son, Mike, who with his wife Samantha live in Central Point. Mike is an office manager and Sam is a nurse in a local hospital.   Katie, their daughter, graduated from The Master’s College and is on staff at a church in Orange County. She lives in Orange County, CA.

Dale Bitterling

Children and Family Pastor / Director, S.E.L.C

Dale Bitterling has been serving on the Pastoral staff of Community Bible Church since March of 2002. Pastor Dale grew up in Central Point, Oregon, and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Southern Oregon University in Ashland in 1990.   Prior to serving at CBC, Pastor Dale was an elementary school teacher in the Rogue Valley for 11 years.   He continues to provide a vital link between CBC and School District #6 through substitute teaching and working with the district to create other after-school programs for their students. Pastor Dale enjoys back-packing, water skiing, and most outdoor activities.

Dale and his wife Debbie were married in December of 1989. Dale and Debbie are blessed with a daughter and a son. Their family enjoys camping, biking, and playing games. Debbie grew up in Central Point, Oregon (and at Community Bible Church) and is a graduate of Rogue Community College. Debbie is actively involved in the Youth Ministry at CBC.   Debbie is a Respiratory Therapist at Rogue Valley Medical Center. She enjoys reading, horseback riding and water skiing.

Kevin Hearne

Pastor of Adult Ministries

Kevin Hearne has been serving as Pastor of Adult Ministries at Community Bible Church since August 2011. Pastor Kevin grew up in the central valley of California and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, CA and his Masters of Divinity degree from Western Seminary in Portland, OR. Prior to serving at CBC, Kevin was an Associate Pastor for 6 years in Salem, OR and Youth Pastor for 9 years in Colville, WA.

Kevin and his wife Janelle were married in January 1996. Janelle also grew up in the central valley of California and graduated from The Master’s College, where the two met. Kevin & Janelle have four boys, Jacob, Joshua, Josiah (JP) and Jace. Most of their time is spent chasing the boys around and enjoying time with family and friends.

Spencer Thorpe
Youth Pastor

Spencer Thorpe has been serving as youth pastor of Community Bible Church since July of 2010. Spencer grew up in Central Point under the care of devoted Christ followers, Dan and Debby Thorpe. Spencer received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois in May of 2010. Spencer is currently working on his Masters of Divinity through Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Spencer enjoys professional sporting events, snow skiing, sailing, and traveling.

Barb Goheen

Administrative Assistant

Barbara was born and raised in a small farming community in Maple Lake, Minnesota.  After graduating from St. Paul Bible College (now Crown College) with a BA in Christian Education, she went to Matsumoto Japan as a short term missionary with TEAM.  Greg and Barb were married in 1979, moved to Oregon in 1981, and Greg started working with 3M (now Carestream Health in White City). They have 2 sons, Joshua and Justin.

Before coming to CBC in 2008, Barb worked at SELC, Jewett and Scenic Middle school as well as purchasing and operating an adult foster care home. She also volunteered as Sunday School Superintendent for many years and is now involved in our worship ministry. She enjoys music, reading and yard work (growing flowers).

Sabrina Lopes

Church Bookkeeper/Finance

Sabrina Lopes has been serving as the bookkeeper for Community Bible Church since November 2009.  Sabrina grew  up in Napoleon, Ohio, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Georgetown College in 1992, with double minors in Religion and Sociology.  Prior to serving at CBC, Sabrina worked 5 years in corporate accounting for Toyota, followed by 5 years in private accounting.  Then, she married her husband of 8 years, David Lopes and began keeping books for their businesses.  They have lived in the Rogue Valley for 4 years.  David is a custom cabinet maker and owner of Eagle Woodworks and has a bicycle shop called The Bike Guy.  They have two children, which Sabrina homeschools, Carson, 7 years old, and Aleah, 4 years old.

Jenny Easton

Children’s Ministry Assistant

Jenny has been serving in children’s ministries since August 2009, and as an assistant since September 2010.  Jenny attended Simpson University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Bible.  It was at Simpson where she met her husband, Ed.  They married a month after graduating and moved to Medford in 1997. Jenny is a leader in the Senior High program, Rooted, and assists her husband, Ed in the Awana program. They have been faithful attenders of CBC for 7 years.

Jenny and Ed have three children who attend Griffin Creek Elementary.  Ed has been a teacher at Crater High School since 2001, and he is also very involved with life at CBC where he serves as the current Head Elder and Awana Commander.  Both Jenny and Ed love their church family and desire to serve the Lord through their ministries as well as in their home.

Kristi Scianna

Children’s Ministry Assistant

Kristi has been serving as a children’s ministry assistant since September of 2010.  Kristi grew up in California and  then attended college at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon where she received her B.A. in Psychology.  After college, she returned to San Jose, met and married her husband Lenny, and spent the next 13 years there until they felt God leading them to southern Oregon in 2005.  They have 3 children– 2 sons and a daughter – with Kristi able to be primarily a stay at home mommy.  Kristi and her family enjoy spending as much time as they can together, especially if it involves camping, water, or games.

Kristi has always enjoyed being active in her church in a variety of ministries from the children’s department to women’s Bible studies and women’s ministries to homeschooling ministries.  Here at Community Bible, Kristi and her husband, Lenny, have also enjoyed working in the youth group with jr. highers.  As a children’s ministry assistant, Kristi is privileged to serve both the children here at Community Bible and the many adult volunteers who work with them.

Vicki Collins

Women’s Counselor

Vicki is our women’s counselor here at CBC. Vicki married her high school sweetheart and has been with him for over 50 years. She has 3 grown children, 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She has been involved in women’s ministry since 1966, with a passion for hurting women and believes God’s words hold the secret  to a peaceful and fulfilled life. God has led her to be involved in Stonecraft  Ministries, speaking on salvation and the difficulties women face in their everyday life.

Vicki believes that having Godly priorities will allow women to realize their dreams while moving on from their hurts and disappointments,.
